Method
Prepare the Cake
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the sifted flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Serve
- Once baked, remove the pound cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
- If desired, mix the powdered sugar with milk to create a glaze and drizzle over the cooled cake before serving.
