  • 1 loaf Cuban bread
  • 1 lb pork shoulder, slow-cooked and shredded
  • 8 oz sweet or smoked ham, sliced
  • 4 oz Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup dill pickles, sliced
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper; slow cook in marinade until tender enough to shred.
  2. Slice the Cuban bread and layer shredded pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles inside. Spread mustard on both sides of the bread.
  3. Generously butter the outside of the sandwich.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat; grill the sandwich while pressing down with another pan for even browning.
  5. Cook until golden brown and cheese is melted (3-4 minutes per side).
  6. Let cool slightly before slicing diagonally and serve hot with extra pickles.
