Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla, then fold in cake flour.
  3. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  4. While cooling, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and food coloring until smooth.
  5. Once cool, trim edges of the cake and cut heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
  6. For ganache: Heat cream until simmering; pour over chopped chocolate and stir until smooth. Dip hearts in ganache and place on parchment paper.
  7. After ganache sets, dip hearts into icing mixture or drizzle on top. Allow to dry before serving.
