Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (480g)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed (240ml)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted (75g)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. Add the activated yeast mixture along with melted butter and eggs to the flour mixture. Stir until combined; the dough will be sticky.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the risen dough, divide into equal portions (12-16), and shape into balls. Place them in a greased baking dish close together.
  7. Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter right after baking.
