Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 4 waffles (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup hot honey
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying (canola or vegetable)
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken breasts in buttermilk mixed with salt and pepper for at least one hour in the fridge.
  2. Set up a breading station with flour seasoned with garlic powder and paprika in one dish, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in a third.
  3. Remove marinated chicken from the buttermilk, coat each breast in flour, dip into eggs, then cover with breadcrumbs.
  4. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add cooking oil. Once shimmering, fry each chicken breast for about 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked.
  5. While chicken cools slightly, toast waffles until crispy. Assemble sliders by placing a piece of fried chicken on a waffle slice and drizzling with hot honey before topping with another waffle slice.

Keywords: For a milder option, substitute hot honey with spicy maple syrup. Experiment with different breads like mini biscuits instead of waffles. To store leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
