  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Slice the Yukon Gold potatoes into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick).
  4. In a bowl, mix together heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme until well combined.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish; pour half of the cream mixture over the top and sprinkle with half of the Gruyère cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
