  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil a large pot of salted water.
  2. Cook the penne pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, chopped basil, salt, and pepper.
  4. In another bowl, mix cooked penne with marinara sauce until well coated; then gently fold in the ricotta mixture.
  5. Grease a baking dish and layer half of the penne mixture in it. Top with half of the remaining mozzarella. Add the rest of the penne mixture and finish with more mozzarella and Parmesan.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
