Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pistachios (toasted)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, melted butter, and egg; gradually add to dry ingredients until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about eight minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for about one hour until doubled.
  3. Meanwhile, mix chopped nuts with cinnamon in a bowl.
  4. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about half an inch thick. Brush with melted butter and evenly sprinkle the nut mixture.
  5. Tightly roll the dough into a log shape and slice into eight pieces; place cut-side up in a greased baking dish.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and let buns rise for another thirty minutes. Simmer honey and water together to create syrup while buns rise.
  7. Bake buns for twenty-five minutes until golden brown. Drizzle warm syrup over hot buns before serving.
