  • 6 cups day-old artisan sourdough bread, cubed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large sweet onion, chopped
  • 2 cups celery, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp dried sage
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread cubed sourdough on a baking sheet and toast for about 15 minutes until golden.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and celery; sauté until tender (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in garlic, thyme, and sage; cook for an additional minute.
  4. In a large bowl, combine toasted bread cubes with the sautéed mixture. Gradually add chicken broth while gently mixing.
  5. Incorporate beaten eggs along with salt and pepper until evenly coated.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake uncovered at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes until golden brown on top.
