Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3 oz) red Jello (strawberry or cherry)
  • 1 package (3 oz) blue Jello (blue raspberry or berry)
  • 1 cup sour cream or whipped topping
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (optional for the white layer)
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • Clear plastic cups

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a mixing bowl, dissolve one package of red Jello in 1 cup of boiling water. Let it cool slightly before pouring into clear plastic cups until one-third full. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes until set.
  2. Make the White Layer: Mix 1 cup of sour cream (or whipped topping) with 1/2 cup of sugar until smooth. Once the red layer is set, gently spoon the white mixture on top without disturbing the red layer.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Repeat Step 1 with blue Jello, using another cup of boiling water. Cool slightly before pouring on top of the white layer.
  4. Chill Until Ready: Return the cups to the refrigerator for at least an hour or until completely set before serving.

Keywords: Allow each layer to set completely before adding the next to ensure distinct layers. Experiment with flavors while maintaining the color theme—try cherry for red or lemon-lime for white. Garnish with whipped cream or fresh fruit to enhance presentation.
